Sony Music just seriously improved its credentials in German hip-hop.
The major record company has inked a partnership deal to distribute the entire catalog of two independent labels – Selfmade and Division – that are are the forefront of rap music in the European country.
The catalog includes nine No.1 albums, while the deal also covers distribution of future album releases by the two labels.
The labels’ artists include the 257ers, Karate Andi, RIN, Kynda Gray and Yugo.
Additionally, Elvir Omerbegovic, Managing Partner and co-founder of Selfmade Records, has been named President of Urban Music, Sony Music Germany.
“Sony Music is very ambitious and we look forward to a productive collaboration between our teams.”

Omerbegovic said: “I have known Patrick Mushatsi Kareba and Daniel Lieberberg for many years. They share our vision of progressive urban music.
