Sony Music France President Stéphane le Tavernier has left the company, MBW has learnt.
In an internal note sent to Sony Music France staff today (January 20) and obtained by MBW, Daniel Lieberberg, President, Continental Europe and Africa, Sony Music Entertainment said that the exec has “decided to step down”, effective immediately.
Lieberberg writes that le Tavernier “has proven himself as a widely respected executive with a history of many successes in the market” and added that the company is “grateful for his leadership over the last 10 years’.
Le Tavernier was named Managing Director/ Executive VP of Music & Sales of Sony Music France in 2007 and took over as the territory’s President in March 2010.
Prior to his appointment as MD in 2007, le Tavernier was Director of the Jive and Epic labels following the merger of BMG and Sony Music.

Lieberberg added that he will “work closely with the senior executive team to oversee Sony Music France’s business and strategy” until a replacement is announced.

Today I’m writing to let you know that Stéphane Le Tavernier has decided to step down as [President] of Sony Music France with immediate effect. We are grateful for his leadership over the last 10 years.
