Sony Music is up to something in Nashville.
MBW has spotted an intriguing nib of information within a couple of new job vacancy posts on the major’s US careers site.
It’s currently looking for a Music City-based Manager of Marketing and Label Operations, in addition to a Manager of Digital Strategy.
The job ads respectively read:
“A yet unannounced Sony Music venture based in Nashville is searching for a true team player.”
“A yet unannounced Sony Music venture based in Nashville is searching for a creative, detailed, and innovative professional who can help us make a direct impact on our artists’ sales and success in the online world.”
There’s little else in the ads to hint what’s coming from Sony, but the digital role does mention collaboration with a Director of Radio & Marketing Strategy, as well as work with a Marketing Manager.
Nashville is a hub of activity right now as major labels and publishers increasingly commit spending on both A&R and acquisitions.
Last month, MBW broke the news that all three major labels – plus BMG – had made enquiries with a view to purchasing Nashville indie Broken Bow, label home to Jason Aldean.
