Splice users can now use their own sound loops with AI-powered ‘Create’ engine

Splice subscribers will now be able to upload their own original loops to integrate their unique sounds with Splice’s sample library.

The platform for music creators is introducing a new feature called “Create With Your Own Loop.” Previously, Splice’s AI-powered “Create” inspiration engine focused on matching sounds within the platform’s extensive library that offers over 300 instruments and spans 130 unique music genres.

The update now allows users to use their own sounds as a starting point for music creation.

The feature was developed in collaboration with platinum-selling record producer, Zaytoven, known for his work with artists such as Usher, Gucci Mane, Future, Jack Harlow, and The Weeknd.

Sharing his experience with the new tool, Zaytoven said, “It opened my mind up. It helps me spark ideas. I make so many beats. A lot of times I can make them start sounding alike because I make so many beats. This helps to expand and think outside of what I would’ve done normally.”

With the new Create With Your Own Loop feature, users can upload their personal loop into the Splice platform. The Create engine then analyzes the sound and creates a “stack” of compatible sounds from Splice’s library within seconds. The suggested stems, which Splice says are “human-created,” can then be exported to digital audio workstations (DAWs).

New York-based startup Splice provides affordable access to plugins and DAWs through a rent-to-own Gear marketplace.

Kakul Srivastava, CEO of Splice, said: “Splice AI delivers human-made sounds that are compatible with the creator’s original idea, which remains at the center of the creative process.”

“With this tool creators can start with their own sound, select a genre, and Splice’s AI will surface sounds that fit perfectly in seconds. This sets the stage for the next generation of technology advances at Splice, putting powerful tools directly into our users’ existing workflow.”

The update marks Splice’s latest offering to enhance user experience. It follows recent updates to the Splice mobile app and the introduction of features like Bridge to the desktop app, which is also aimed at boosting creativity and enhancing workflow.

Back in March, Splice launched a new mobile experience, allowing creators to browse, audition, and craft music directly from their phones. Splice Mobile, now available on iOS and Android, merges the company’s sample library with its Create technology. In 2022, Spice introduced an AI-powered app called CoSo, which uses AI to find sound samples from across the Splice catalog that work together.

In February 2021, Splice, co-founded by Steve Martocci and Matt Aimonetti, closed a $55 million Series D round led by Goldman Sachs’ GS Growth.
