Spotify has a new Head of Music in the UK and Ireland.
Sulinna Ong has been appointed in the newly-created role three months after joining Spotify from Deezer, where she was Global Vice President of Artist Marketing.
Ong initially joined Spotify in April as Head of Artist & Label Services.
The new role sees Ong take responsibility for leading both Spotify’s Artist & Label Services (ALS) and Music Culture & Editorial (MCE) teams in the UK/IE.
Spotify is currently appointing an MCE UK lead who will report into Ong.
Sulinna Ong, Spotify’s Head of Music, UK/IE, said: “I’m delighted to be taking on a new role as UK Head of Music for Spotify – and looking forward to bringing all our music teams together to deliver even greater experiences for all our partners, labels, artists and, of course, our listeners.”

Tom Connaughton, Spotify’s Managing Director, UK/IE, said: “The close collaboration between our UK Music teams leads to great experiences for artists, labels, users and our people – and we’re always looking for new ways to work even more closely together.
“Sulinna joined us three months ago and in that time has shown great leadership, bringing 16 years’ experience pioneering global marketing strategies in the music industry, leading editorial teams as well as directly managing major artists.”
Prior to joining Deezer in 2016, Ong’s experience included senior roles at Sony BMG in London, in artist management with the likes of Kasabian, and at Live Nation, where she worked on deals with Madonna, Jay Z and Roc Nation among others.
Today’s news comes a month after MBW learned that Austin Daboh, Spotify’s Head of Music Culture & Editorial in the UK, was leaving the platform.
