Warner Chappell Music has entered into a worldwide co-publishing agreement with Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum global superstar Cardi B.
The deal covers future works as well as recent releases, including her current collaboration with Warner Chappell songwriter and fellow Atlantic recording artist Lizzo, Rumors, which became Cardi B’s seventh No.1 single on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Cardi B was the first woman to have five simultaneous Top 10 hits on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart in a single week as well as the first female rapper with five No.1’s on the Billboard Hot 100.
She made her musical debut in 2015 on Shaggy’s remix of Boom Boom, alongside Jamaican dancehall singer Popcaan.
A year later, she released her first full-length project, a mixtape titled Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1., followed in 2017 by Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 2.
That same year, she was nominated for two BET Awards – Best New Artist and Best Female Hip-Hop Artist – and signed with Atlantic Records, releasing her debut commercial single, Bodak Yellow.
The song climbed to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and Cardi B went on to become the first female rapper to earn RIAA diamond single certification.
Several chart toppers followed, including features on G-Eazy’s No Limit and Ozuna’s La Modelo. After releasing her hit single Bartier Cardi with 21 Savage, Cardi partnered up with Bruno Mars on his remix track Finesse, which climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and ruled charts across the globe.
In the spring of 2018, Cardi B’s official debut studio album, Invasion Of Privacy, arrived, featuring appearances by Migos, Chance the Rapper, Kehlani, SZA, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin.
The RIAA triple-platinum album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and won Best Rap Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards, while all 13 tracks have been RIAA certified gold or higher – making Cardi the first female artist to achieve this feat.
Invasion Of Privacy has since become first album by a female rapper to spend 175 weeks on the Billboard 200.
Also in 2018, Cardi B was featured on Jennifer Lopez’s Dinero and Maroon 5’s Grammy-nominated Girls Like You. And in 2019, she received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance for her collaboration with Offset, Clout.
In 2020, Cardi released WAP (feat. Megan Thee Stallion), which debuted and spent multiple weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track quickly broke a string of records, including the highest-streaming first week by a female or male artist and the most first-week streams for any song in 2020. It also became one of the Top 3 hip-hop streaming debuts of all time.
