Talpa Music, the Dutch publisher acquired by BMG last year and transformed into the Benelux arm of the company, will now be jointly led by directors Brian Dessaur and Frank Bruens.
Dessaur joins BMG in the newly created role as Chief Creative Officer, BMG Talpa Music. He will report to Fred Casimir, EVP Continental European Repertoire.
Dessaur (pictured) has over 17 years of experience in the music industry, ranging from management and label activities on to music publishing. Most recently he was General Manager of Strengholt Music Publishing, where he was responsible for signing Benelux renowned writers such as Showtek, Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz.
Bruens will report to John Dobinson, BMG Group COO. After joining BMG in 2008, Bruens has been essential in the expansion of the company’s business in Benelux and is said to have been instrumental in the acquisition process of Talpa Music.
As managing director, he was responsible for the formation and organization of the BMG Benelux office. Previously Bruens held positions at a.o. BMG Music Publishing.
Bruens and Dessaur will continue to work with Tony Berk, Chairman BMG Talpa Music, and Pieter van Bodegraven, Vice President BMG Talpa Music.
Brian Dessaur said: “I am very excited to join the BMG family and to further develop the artist and writer roster together with the team. With the acquisition of Talpa Music earlier this year, BMG has created a great additional platform not solely in the Benelux, but on a worldwide basis.”
Frank Bruens said: “We are happy to welcome Brian to our team and look forward to jointly bringing BMG Talpa Music to the next level. We have grown rapidly over the past months, assembled a great team and are eager to remain the number one home for artists and writers in Benelux.”
“We warmly welcome Brian to our global BMG team. Brian and Frank will lead BMG Talpa Music into a successful future.” said Fred Casimir.Music Business Worldwide
