TIDAL has just launched a new personalized song curation feature on its service called My Mix.
My Mix uses a ‘state-of-the-art’ proprietary algorithm which combines data from users’ listening habits and input from TIDAL’s ‘expertly’ human-curated playlists.
My Mix appears to be TIDAL’s answer to what has become an increasingly standard feature across the music streaming sector.
Music services like Pandora and SoundCloud also run their own versions of personalised playlists and as MBW reported in September, Spotify started personalizing some of their official playlists.
Following an initial learning period, a series (maximum six) of 50-song ‘compilations’ (playlists) featuring a curated combination of hit songs, new music and classics will be generated based on users’ most listened-to tracks.
Each My Mix will be segmented based on artists and genres.
Mixes will be updated on a regular basis, with daily updates for the most active members.
As users interact with the My Mix, frequency and length of track listens will continue to impact and improve the results. Daily iterations My Mix can be saved and ‘offlined’ for on-demand listening.
Tidal members can access My Mix directly from the App home screen or in a new dedicated My Mix section of the My Collection tab in app, via desktop, or web player.
Meanwhile, Tidal has also released what it calls an ‘improved’ Artist and Track Radio function.
The new Track and Artist Radio feature, which uses an improved algorithm according to Tidal, has been ‘reprioritized’ in the service’s user interface and is also available via the options menu or top of the artist page.
Users can also create new playlists directly from the 100-track radio play queue.
