Last summer, Pulse Music Group – already a big name in music publishing and artist management – expanded into recorded music with the launch of Pulse Records, a joint venture with its majority owner, Concord.
Now, the relatively new record label has announced a major new hire, appointing Tim Glover to the role of President of A&R. Glover comes to Pulse after a decade-long stint at Interscope Geffen A&M, where he most recently served as Executive VP of A&R.
Glover will report jointly to Josh Abraham and Scott Cutler, the co-CEOs of Pulse Music Group, and to Ashley Calhoun, President of Pulse Music Group.
Working from the company’s offices in Silverlake, California, Glover’s new role will entail signing and developing artists and overseeing recording projects for Pulse Records, the company said in a statement released on Wednesday (February 21).
Glover had been at Interscope since 2014, and was promoted to Executive VP of A&R in 2022. In his time at the Universal Music Group-owned label, he worked on J. Cole’s Dreamville imprint, which includes artists such as JID and Ari Lennox, among others.
He also oversaw A&R for record label and creative agency Love Renaissance (LVRN), which entered into a distribution deal with Interscope in 2017, helping develop LVRN artists such as Summer Walker and 6LACK.
Glover also signed and oversaw rapper Lil Mosey, as well as Tierra Whack and Jordan Ward.
“We want our artists at Pulse Records to work with the very best in executive talent and Tim will be a key part of the team as we continue to build.”

A native of Philadelphia, Glover began his career in the music business as a college rep for UMG. From there, he moved on to a stint as a field marketing rep at Universal Music Group Distribution, eventually leading to a lifestyle marketing role at Def Jam Recordings.
At Def Jam, he helped create marketing campaigns for artists such as Pusha T, 2 Chainz and Big Sean.
“Tim’s creative ability has led him to sign and work with some of the world’s top recording artists. We want our artists at Pulse Records to work with the very best in executive talent and Tim will be a key part of the team as we continue to build,” Abraham, Cutler and Calhoun said in a joint statement.
“We know that Tim will bring his incredible creative instincts, business acumen, and experience to this new position and that he will continue to inspire and launch countless PULSE Records artists along the way.”
Glover added: “The Pulse team is synonymous with artist creativity, artist development, building a strong creative community, and they go out of their way to customize their A&R strategies to the unique needs of each and every artist.
“What Scott, Josh, and Ashley have built at PULSE is extremely re-energizing – I’m honored and excited to join the team, and I look forward to big things ahead.”
Abraham and Cutler, along with Anne Preven, launched Pulse Music Group in 2008 “as a creative sanctuary for songwriters and producers.”
It has since built a client roster that is credited with more than 200 million units of recorded music sales and more than 75 billion music streams, and amassed more than 350 Gold & Platinum certifications.
Its publishing catalog includes Despacito (ft. Justin Bieber) by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee (thanks to songwriter Marty James) and Pulse writers have also contributed to hits such as Maroon 5’s Girls Like You ft. Cardi B, Camila Cabello’s Havana ft. Young Thug, and Rihanna’s Needed Me.
Concord took a majority stake in Pulse Music Group in 2020, in a deal reported to be worth well over USD $100 million.
“The Pulse team is synonymous with artist creativity, artist development, building a strong creative community, and they go out of their way to customize their A&R strategies to the unique needs of each and every artist.”

The company launched Pulse Records in June 2023, supported by Concord’s label services platform and administrative teams. As part of Concord Label Group, it’s distributed through the company’s relationship with UMG.
Since launching, Pulse Records has formed an artist-development joint venture with ISO Supremacy, the label founded by R&B artist Brent Faiyaz. The JV signed Tommy Richman as the first artist under the partnership.
The company also recently announced it had signed New Zealand-born South African artist 9lives, a Sigilkore rapper who has accumulated more than 435 million Spotify streams.Music Business Worldwide
