Capitol Records UK Co-Presidents Jo Charrington and Nick Raphael have today announced the promotion of Tom Paul to General Manager of the label.
With over 12 years’ experience in marketing and campaign management, Paul has made a substantial contribution to some of Capitol’s biggest global campaigns since first helping to launch the label in 2011.
Throughout his nine years at the label – most recently as Marketing Director – Paul has worked with artists such as Sam Smith, 5 Seconds of Summer and Liam Payne who have collectively sold over 40m albums worldwide while collecting numerous awards including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, four Grammys, three BRITs and three VMAs.

As well as being responsible for marketing the first James Bond theme song to hit No.1 in the UK charts with Sam Smith’s Writing’s On The Wall, Paul has also won a selection of industry awards from the likes of Media Week, Campaign and Music Week.
Having started his career as a Marketing Assistant at Sony’s Epic Records in 2008, he worked his way up to a Senior Product Manager role at the label, where he helped develop and break artists including JLS, Olly Murs, Paloma Faith, Scouting For Girls, Lemar, Aloe Blacc, Imogen Heap and Glee, achieving four UK No.1 albums and 10 UK No.1 singles in his three years at the label.
Alongside Jo Charrington and Nick Raphael, Paul left Sony in 2011 to become a Marketing Manager at London Records before joining Capitol.
“We have worked with Tom for over 12 years and in that time he has proved himself to be an exemplary marketing executive.”
