Ultra Music Publishing has struck a strategic alliance with Warner Chappell Music.
This new agreement will see Warner Chappell becoming Ultra’s sub-publisher in the UK and responsible for collecting the company’s digital income across the UK and the rest of Europe.
Ultra, which has a network of studios around the world, will also explore new collaborations and opportunities for its roster of writers and producers with those represented by Warner Chappell Music.
Among Ultra’s catalog, which includes over 36,000 copyrights, are releases from: Drake, Rihanna, Kanye West, Future, Kygo, Steve Aoki, Migos, Madonna, Sean Paul, Paul Woolford, Diplo, The Weeknd and David Guetta among many others.
Some of the biggest tracks on which Ultra has a share include: OMI Cheerleader, Katy Perry’s Firework, Big Shaq Man’s Not Hot, James Arthur Say You Won’t Let Go, Joel Corry ft. Mabel’s I Wish and Diplo Looking For Me.
Ultra was founded in 2004 by Patrick Moxey.
Today’s announcement follows the news in January that Sony Music Group had bought full ownership of legendary dance music label Ultra Records, with Moxey exiting the label and David Waxman takes over as President.
Speaking on the MBW Podcast in January, Moxey detailed his reasons for selling up to Sony.
“Ultimately, it came to a place where I really wanted to get back to my independent roots. And I’m super excited to be 100% independent again,” he said.
He added: “Rob Stringer is very good at what he does, and under Rob’s guidance, Sony is a powerful and effective machine. But a big major [record company] is always industrializing music. And I want the creativity of my artists to shine; I want my artists to have priority.”
“I’m delighted to be joining forces with Guy Moot, Shani Gonzales and the team at Warner Chappell Music in the UK and Europe.”
