Jeremy Erlich, who for the past five years has worked in a central role at UMG as Head of Corporate Development and Strategy, is moving inside a Universal label group – Interscope Geffen A&M.
Erlich has been appointed as CFO and EVP of Business Development at the UMG company, which is run by John Janick.
In an internal note, Janick said of Erlich’s appointment: “At Interscope, Jeremy’s background in both music and tech really makes him the perfect fit for us. He understands both where we are and where we’re going.
“Jeremy brings a lot to the table, and he will be working closely with Steve and me to help leverage Interscope’s strengths. He has an incredible background, and his knowledge and relationships both within and outside the music business make him uniquely qualified to help position us for the future.
“I’m excited about the opportunities he will bring to the label and our artists creatively and commercially, whether it’s new technology, platforms and services, or overseeing the company’s financial well-being.”
In a separate note, Boyd Muir, CFO and EVP of Universal Music Group, said: “In the five years we have worked together, Jeremy has proven to be capable of strategic thinking and pragmatic tactical execution.
“I am grateful for the significant role he played in our acquisition and integration of EMI and subsequent sale of Parlophone. Jeremy also led our acquisition of Eagle Rock Entertainment in 2014 and oversaw UMG’s early stage investments.
“In addition to his new responsibilities, Jeremy has agreed to continue to advise our senior executive team at UMG, and I am confident that he will be a valuable addition to the already first rate management team at Interscope.”Music Business Worldwide
