Kobalt has inked a worldwide agreement with Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter and rapper, Young Thug.
The deal includes publishing administration, including global synch and creative services, for all of Young Thug’s future songs.
MBW understands that the rapper’s current catalog remains at Reservoir, where he signed a deal in 2018.
Last year, Young Thug achieved fourteen Billboard charting tracks and released records by artists including Gunna and Lil Keed through Young Stoner Life Records, of which he is the Founder and CEO.
In 2021, he is the only artist to achieve two No.1 albums with Punk and Slime Language 2.
PUNK, released in October, saw Young Thug collaborate with Gunna, Doja Cat, Nate Ruess, J. Cole, Drake, Future, and more.
The announcement comes shortly after Kobalt Capital confirmed that investment giant KKR has acquired the KMR Music Royalties II portfolio for approximately $1.1 billion.
The transaction was completed by Chord Music Partners, a platform established by KKR with Dundee Partners, and KKR said at the time that it will also house other music assets it has purchased over the past year within Chord.
These assets likely include the bundle of rights that KKR acquired from songwriter Ryan Tedder in January.
