Troy Carter’s music and technology company Q&A has hired Charlie Kim as Senior Software Engineer and Maria Gironas as Director of Video Platform Strategy.
These appointments follow other recent executive hires from Amazon, Universal and Paradigm.
Kim (pictured left) and Gironas (pictured right) join founders Troy Carter, J. Erving and Suzy Ryoo, as well as Chief Operating Officer Phillip Eubanks and Chief Product Officer Tim Luckow.
Kim joins Q&A from his tenure as a lead developer for Hulu where he led a software engineering team to build and launch data analysis platforms.
He has worked in various disciplines from architecting systems to helping businesses access data.
Before his six years at Hulu, Kim worked at Deluxe Entertainment building VFX asset management pipelines for blockbuster movies such as The Avengers and Star Trek Into Darkness.
Prior to joining the Q&A team, Gironas served as a Strategic Partner Manager on the Artist Development team at YouTube.
She partnered with artists like Lauv, Julia Michaels, Tenille Arts, Neffex, Moss Kena, and more to development unique content strategies on the platform.
Now, at Q&A, she serves as the Director of Video Platform Strategy, focusing on building artist narratives through platforms like YouTube, Tik Tok, and more.
Gironas brings over 10 years of experience in artist development, doing everything from being a signed artist to cultivating national publicity or social media campaigns for artists and brands like Fender, Emo Night Brooklyn, Taking Back Sunday, Bear Hands, Noah Gundersen, Pierce The Veil, and many more.
Following the big reveal of Q&A in April, Troy Carter’s Q&A announced a pact with Jon Platt’s Sony/AT in May, followed by the hiring of Spotify and Facebook veterans to bolster the Los Angeles-based startup’s creative offering.
In July MBW revealed that Q&A has also signed a deal with Warner, which one source portrayed as a “special agreement that’s nothing like a traditional label deal”.
“This is an incredible opportunity for me to build an infrastructure to evolve the music industry alongside Troy and the Q&A team.”

Gironas added: “I’m honored to be joining Q&A to continue my passion for artist development.
“The team Suzy, J, and Troy have assembled not only share an artist first mentality, but a contagious hustle that excites me for all the amazing work we’ll be accomplishing as a team.”
