YouTube has launched student plans for YouTube Music and YouTube Premium.
Starting today (November 27), student plans are available for YouTube Music Premium for $4.99 and YouTube Premium for $6.99.
And, according to YouTube, eligible university and college students who sign up by January 31, 2019 can “lock in” YouTube Premium at a special rate of just $5.99.
It’s worth noting that the YouTube Music Premium student deal is the same as Spotify‘s standard $4.99 a month student deal, which since August has been offered for $0.99 a month for the first three months for new users.
Although that also includes a Hulu subscription.
It also matches the $4.99 Apple Music student plan, which was extended to an additional 82 markets in February 2018.
In June the YouTube Music app was made publicly available on iOS and Android across 17 markets including the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Germany following a limited launch in May.
Student plans are only currently available to all full-time students at an accredited college or university in the US, but it YouTube says that it will expand to more countries in the future.
