Apple Music has launched “Behind the Songs” – a new space within Apple Music dedicated to highlighting songwriters, producers, session musicians and their work.
The new portal will highlight these creators through Apple Music’s key playlist brands including Songbook and Behind the Boards
It will also allow songwriters and publishers to participate in regularly updated editorial features and promotions with Apple Music and its subscribers.
Going forward, this new communal space for songwriters, producers and publishers will also feature Apple Music original content, including Lyrics To Live By and Song Stories.
Behind the Songs will be fully searchable in Apple Music and will appear for any subscriber searching for the words “Songwriter or Songwriters” combined with lyric-search, lyric share and time-synced lyrics.
Behind the Songs is also the home for Apple Music’s partnership with The Ivors Academy, the body representing the UK and Ireland’s songwriters and composers, which also puts on the ‘Ivors’ awards ceremony each year.
Back in October 2019, the The Ivors Academy inked a three-year deal with Apple Music to “bring greater awareness within and outside the UK of the organisation, its activities and its incredibly talented members”.
The platform will showcase the nominees for the brand-new Rising Star Award With Apple Music (to be unveiled on July 27, 2021).
Elsewhere, Apple Music radio show Deep Hidden Meaning, hosted by Nile Rodgers, is dedicated entirely to songwriters and their stories, which sees interview songwriters each month.
“Apple Music has, above all, continued to invest deeply in the songwriting community and its various components, and ‘Behind the Songs’ is a new place we can call home.”
