Apple Music has launched a new chart called the Shazam Discovery Top 50, a weekly global ranking of the biggest trending tracks on the music recognition platform.
According to Apple, the new Discovery chart uses Shazam’s proprietary algorithms to provide a predictive view on rising artists and reacting tracks. It is available to view for Apple Music subscribers through here.
The new chart ranks songs that are trending in the UK and over 10 countries. Artists from more countries will be featured “soon”.
Apple also says that the ranked songs are all at different points in their individual lifecycle and the majority of artists represented are emerging and up-and-coming.
“All are experiencing a level of momentum indicative of future potential of hitting the top of Shazam’s Charts, and show any or all of the following patterns: moving quickly through Shazam’s charts, growing rapidly, steadily and/or geographically,” says the press release announcing the new chart.
The chart will be updated every Tuesday.
“Shazam has always strived to offer artists the discoverability and visibility they’re working so hard to win,” said Jen Walsh, Senior Director Shazam and Beats 1, Apple Music. This chart takes this approach one step further.”
