AWAL has extended its existing agreement with English musician and producer, Tom Misch.
With AWAL, Misch will be gearing up for his third album, the follow-up to his 2018, De La Soul-featuring debut Geography and 2020’s What Kinda Music, a collaborative album with jazz drummer Yussef Dayes.
In just a few short years, Misch’s back catalog has earned him over 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 1 billion streams globally.
In the UK, Geography reached No.8 in the Official Album Charts and No.2 on the US jazz charts.
Misch has also worked as a behind the scenes producer for Grammy award-nominated artists such as Michael Kiwanuka and Jorja Smith, as well as past winner John Legend.
“Tom is a trailblazer not just with his music but also in how he has built such deep connections with his audience.”

“Tom is a trailblazer not just with his music but also in how he has built such deep connections with his audience,” said AWAL CEO, Lonny Olinick.
“He has been an important priority for AWAL since day one and has proved to be a blueprint for so many other artists. We believe Tom’s talent will continue to carry him forward and we’re excited to build on his already incredible success.”
“Tom Misch is one of the most important and successful artists in AWAL’s history.”
Matt Riley, AWAL
Matt Riley, Head of A&R UK at AWAL, added: “Tom Misch is one of the most important and successful artists in AWAL’s history.
“We have worked with Tom and his manager Duncan Murray from day one and it’s been an ever evolving and exceptionally successful partnership with over a billion streams to date.
“First and foremost, however, we are thrilled to continue to work with such a special musical talent whose originality and consistency shines through.”
Naturally, Misch’s success makes him a key asset in AWAL’s future relationship with Sony Music Entertainment, who acquired AWAL as part of a deal worth $430 million (pending it clears the usual regulatory conditions).
In February, MBW revealed that Sony Music Entertainment (SME) had entered into a definitive agreement with Kobalt Music Group to acquire AWAL, the recorded music services firm that works with independent artists including Jungle, Finneas, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and Little Simz.
The price of the deal is $430 million.
“Our investment in AWAL’s continued growth gives us another level of service to offer the independent music community,” said Sony Music Group Chairman Rob Stringer at the time.
“With their flexible solutions to building artist careers, together we will offer creators more exciting choices to connect with their audience worldwide.”Music Business Worldwide
