BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra have appointed Chris Price as the Head of Music for Radio 1 and 1Xtra.
Price replaces George Ergatoudis, who is leaving the Beeb to join Spotify in March.
BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra Controller Ben Cooper said: “
“Chris’s passion and knowledge is key to our future plans for young audiences to continue to discover the music they will love.”

Chris Price says: “Radio 1 & 1Xtra’s Head of Music is the greatest music discovery job on the planet.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the BBC to continue the incredible work it does breaking new music, as well as steering the networks’ music strategy into the next phase of its digital future.”
Price is the founder of radio and digital consultancy New Slang Media, which he started in 2009.
At New Slang, Price has forged a reputation as an industry-leading expert in the world of streaming radio and playlists – as much of a friend to BBC Radio 1 as it is a threat.
From 2014-2015, Price was Consultant Head Of Music at BT.
He was also Head Of Music at Last.fm from 2012-2013.
Prior to this he devised music strategy for MTV’s nine UK music channels from 2006-2009.
Between 2000-2006 he was a programmer at… you’ve guessed it, BBC Radio 1, before which he worked in marketing and product management roles at Sony Music and Warner Music.Music Business Worldwide
