Pink Floyd: Annual revenues in 2022 and 2023

For years, Pink Floyd owned their classic recordings, while partnering with recorded music companies to license and/or distribute their music globally.

After their record distributors/licensing partners took their share, the proceeds from the band’s sales/streams flowed into two UK companies: Pink Floyd (1987) Limited and Pink Floyd Music Limited.

The former collected revenues for the band’s recorded music catalog following Roger Waters’ departure in 1985; the latter collected revenues for music recorded before Waters’ departure.

This stopped being the case in 2024, when Sony Music acquired Floyd’s masters (plus name & likeness rights) in a deal worth around USD $400 million.

Below you can see a data visualization of the annual royalty income of the two Floyd UK companies in FY 2022 and 2023 (ending June 30 in each 12-month period), prior to the Sony sale.

The data was derived from UK Companies House.
