John Dyer has exited his position at Domino Recording Co after more than a decade with the company, MBW has learned.
Dyer has been a Director of Domino since 2005, working alongside founder Laurence Bell at the helm of the business.
The respected exec left the indie label and publisher yesterday (August 24).
Dyer joined Domino as operations boss during the rise of Franz Ferdinand, who clocked up a UK No.1 album in October 2005 with You Could Have It So Much Better.
In 2006, Dyer worked as part of the Domino team that helped break Arctic Monkeys with the Sheffield band’s seminal debut album Whatever People Say I Am (That’s What I’m Not).
Since then Dyer has steered Domino’s digital strategy through the launch of Spotify, and through the transition from the dominance of iTunes/download into the streaming era.
Having started out in sales for Rough Trade and London Records, Dyer was GM of [PIAS] in the UK from 2000 to 2005.
Domino Records was founded in London in 1993 by Laurence Bell and partner Jacqui Rice.
Its current roster includes Arctic Monkeys, Wild Beasts, Jon Hopkins, The Last Shadow Puppets and Villagers.Music Business Worldwide
