Superstar Norwegian DJ and producer Alan Walker is partnering with Sweden-born fan funding platform Corite to deliver what the company calls “new experiences” to his fanbase through Web3 and blockchain technology.
Corite says that the Web3 campaign will lead with “fan-driven music releases”, with further details for the partnership to be announced in the coming months.
According to a media release, Walker is “engaging in a long-term partnership with Corite” to allow his fans “to become influential stakeholders and co-creators in the Alan Walker universe”.
Walker has over 115 million followers across his social platforms, 8.7 billion YouTube views, and 50 billion audio and video streams.
This news follows Corite’s $6.2 million fund raise in January in a private $CO token sale for its blockchain-based sister project, Corite CO.
The new Corite CO platform will allow $CO token holders to participate in blockchain fan funding and promotion, get early access to invest in music projects, in addition to earning rewards for “contributing and participating in the governance of the Corite ecosystem”, according to a media release.
In November of 2021, Corite CO launched its first NFT campaign in Times Square, featuring Emery Kelly’s “Emotions” collection of NFTs.
Co-founded by Universal Music Sweden alumni Mattias Tengblad (CEO) and Emil Angervall (COO) in Sweden in 2019, Corite enables fans to directly invest in their favorite artists, and to earn a proportion of said artists’ streaming royalties in return.
Corite claims to be enabling artists at any stage of their career “to eschew the traditional record label model while still releasing their music across all major streaming platforms”.
In May 2021, Corite inked a partnership with L.A-based HITCO Entertainment, run by L.A Reid and Charles Goldstuck. HITCO acquired a minority stake in Corite as part of the partnership, which also saw the platform expand into the US.
Alan Walker has collaborated with artists including Ava Max, Noah Cyrus, Farruko and Stargate, to name a few. He has remixed works from the likes of Aviici, Sia, Bruno Mars and Coldplay.
His debut album Different World , released in late 2018, has amassed over 3.2 billion streams on Spotify alone.
Alan Walker has also previously entered into content partnerships and music collaborations in the gaming world with IP ́s such as League of Legends, Battlefield, Call of Duty and PUBG.
