LA-based rights management, copyright enforcement, and content monetization firm HAAWK has acquired self-publishing platform TuneRegistry and unclaimed royalties search engine RoyaltyClaim.
HAAWK has also appointed TuneRegistry and RoyaltyClaim founder Dae Bogan to the position of Chief Executive Officer, with HAAWK co-founder Ryan Born holding a tripe role of Chairman, President, and Chief Financial Officer.
Back in September HAAWK secured a $2.5m Series Seed round of venture capital financing led by Rincon Venture Partners, Wavemaker Partners, Frontier Venture Capital, and Apex Ventures.
It simultaneously announced the acquisition of a range of assets from Dart Music Inc – the Tennessee-based classical music digital aggregator which filed for bankruptcy in February.

Born said: “HAAWK’s mission is to create and retrieve new found revenue for rights holders. Dae Bogan and the teams behind TuneRegistry and RoyaltyClaim are the perfect fit for our company. These are exceptional individuals that have created differentiated products that align perfectly with HAAWK’s mission.
Bogan added: “I am thrilled to join the HAAWK team along with my TuneRegistry co-founders Jesse Morris [CLO], Kara McGehee [CPO] and Shane Zilinskas [CTO]. I founded TuneRegistry and RoyaltyClaim with a mission to empower independent artists and DIY musicians to take control of and monetize their copyrights. HAAWK’s resources and team will enable us to see that mission through as we grow our user base, enter new markets, and most importantly, empower the world’s independent creators.”
TuneRegistry, which launched at SXSW 2017, is a music rights and ‘metadata management platform’ enabling independent artists and to self-publish and retain their music royalties.
Launched in September this year, RoyaltyClaim is a search engine for unclaimed and so-called ‘black box’ music royalties.Music Business Worldwide
