Highly respected music executive Greg Marella has been promoted to President of Promotion and Executive Vice President of Capitol Music Group (CMG), it was announced today by the company’s Chairman & CEO, Jeff Vaughn, to whom Marella reports.
In his elevated position, Marella will continue to oversee the planning and execution of promotion strategies for the company’s portfolio of labels.
In his broader CMG EVP role, he will help strategize and navigate CMG’s future course as a key member of Vaughn’s executive management team.
Marella is based in Hollywood within the iconic Capitol Tower.
Marella has built and led a promotion team that has garnered more than 40 No.1 singles across all genres in the last two years, alone.
Recent No.1s include hits by Halsey, Lewis Capaldi, Lil Baby, Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Niall Horan, Migos, Marshmello, Queen Naija and Maggie Rogers, to name only several, as well as the latest No.1 smash, Lemonade, from Internet Money.
Marella joined CMG in 2016 from Kemosabe Records, where he was that company’s Executive Vice President of Promotion for three years.
Prior to that role, he spent 16 years with Interscope -Geffen-A&M and MCA Records in senior Promotion positions.
He began his career at Priority Records in 1995 as West Coast Regional Director of Promotion.
Some of the artists Marella had been associated with during his 25-year career prior to joining CMG include Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, Juicy J, Mary J. Blige, K-CI & JoJo and Blink 182.
