Ingrooves Music Group has signed the Spanish alternative record label Mushroom Pillow to a global distribution deal.
The first release under the new deal is the October 9 release of a new track by singer/actress Najwa entitled, Mira Como Van.
The new agreement marks Ingrooves’ expansion into Spain with the addition of a Madrid office and the appointment of Antón Suárez as Country Manager of Ingrooves Iberia.
The move follows Ingrooves’ recent expansions into Norway, Turkey, Brazil (Sao Paolo), Turkey (Istanbul) and Japan (Tokyo) earlier this year – a pattern of global expansion that has been set in motion following the company’s acquisition by Universal Music Group (UMG) in Q1 2019.
Anton Suárez has a deep background in music distribution, having served previously at such companies as Altafonte and Ditto Music and is a veteran of the Spanish music scene.
Mushroom Pillow was launched in 2001 by Marcos Collantes and Keina Garcia, university students at the time, who had a passion for identifying underground talent and bringing them to mainstream audiences.
The label has been particularly successful at securing global music advertising synchronizations with such brands as Pepsi, Google Play Music, Mastercard, Clinique, to name a few, and film and television placements.
These efforts have enabled the company to increase audiences for its artists outside of Spain in countries such as France, Italy, Turkey and Mexico.
Mushroom Pillow artists have gone on to win more than 25 Independent Music Awards in Spain, more than any other label.
