Universal Music Group-owned Ingrooves Music Group has expanded into Japan with the opening of a Tokyo office.
The company has named respected industry veteran Ryukatsu Son, Managing Director of Ingrooves Japan.
The move follows Ingrooves’ recent expansion into Brazil, and the appointment of Sao Paolo-based Cris Garcia Falcão as Managing Director of Ingrooves Brazil.
Ryukatsu comes to Ingrooves from Amazon Japan, where he was Head of Licensing, Digital Music, and was involved in the launch of Amazon Music HD, the first hi-res streaming service in Japan.
He has also held senior positions at Fujipacific Music and Spotify Japan.
He spent nine years leading the Legal and Business Affairs department of Warner Music Japan and he also served in a variety of positions at Sony, including working on the first generation of the company’s PlayStation video game business.
