Jim Selby named SVP of ole Digital

Jim Selby, former Naxos CEO, has been appointed as the Senior Vice President of ole Digital.

Ole Digital is the white label online digital rights management service from Canada-born company ole, whose own writer roster includes Timbaland, Steve Tyler and Rush. The company claims the platform ‘ensures rightsholders receive every penny they have earned from plays on digital platforms such as YouTube’.

Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Jim Selby (pictured) spent 16 years at Naxos of America and was the company’s Chief Executive Officer since 2007.

Since the late ’90s Selby’s career has included involvement in landmark deals such as the launch of the iTunes Store, YouTube’s agreement with independent record labels, licenses for the first subscription services including Spotify and Rhapsody, scan ‘n’ match deals with iTunes, Amazon and Google, as well as direct deals with SiriusXM and Clearchannel.

“Jim is a senior executive with extensive experience navigating the digital rights landscape and I look forward to his vision in leading this important area of ole’s business. The implications of rapid tech adoption for our assets are profound and I am confident that Jim has the right mix of abilities to ensure we capitalize,” said ole CEO Robert Ott.

Ole Digital manages and collects online revenues for ole clients via direct deals with YouTube and many other digital services. Ole claims that the service employs accurate metadata to prevent errors and maximize earnings as well as the transparent online administration tool adminow, which allows users to see exactly what they are earning online. It also tackles user-generated content by manually claiming any unmonetized YouTube videos that feature a client’s music.Music Business Worldwide
