Overview
The VP, Media leads the Media Department at mold-breaking music conglomerate Big Loud, overseeing media strategy for both the company’s roster of artists and its corporate communications.
The newly-created position added to match Big Loud’s ever-expanding position as an industry leader requires a skilled public relations executive who excels in a fast-paced environment while providing both strong media relationships and superior communication skills.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Work closely with the CEO and Executive Team to oversee corporate communications and strategy for Big Loud and the company’s executives.
- Oversee daily operations of the Media Department including supervising the department staff members, hiring for future roles, etc.
- Develop and execute strategic and engaging multi-platform PR campaigns by pitching and securing national and regional exposure for artists, projects and the company across all platforms.
- Proactively find new opportunities to elevate the profile of Big Loud and its executives through multi-platform press initiates including industry list submissions, strategic pitches around banner moments, company milestones and more.
- Work closely with Big Loud’s Marketing/Digital department and artist managers on brand development, artist brand DNA, artist narratives and media coaching.
- Work closely and collaboratively with independent publicity agencies, and forge strong relationships across the industry as a whole.
- Develop and book artists’ press schedules and interviews; organize press tours in accordance with artists’ priorities.
- Draft and maintain artist and executive assets and press materials including talking points, bios, press releases, quote sheets, clips, etc.
- Work closely with Marketing and Events teams on special events including showcases, industry events, special tour initiatives, etc.
- Oversee artist and executive red carpet attendance at events including award shows, screenings, and more.
- Maintain and continue to develop the company’s press database with key media decision makers across all media outlets and platforms.
- Ensure the team produces routine reports on priority projects throughout campaigns.
- Manage department budget allocations and supervise vendor payment and invoicing.
WHAT YOU HAVE
- 8+ years of progressive publicity/media relations experience.
- Strong media contacts and relationships across music, lifestyle, entertainment and fashion media.
- Knowledge of award shows, the media industry and its power players while being steeped in pop culture with an awareness of current events.
- Ability to generate and execute creative and innovative ideas to secure buzzworthy coverage.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and package top-notch content – including press releases, speeches, op-eds, internal communications and presentations – on rapid deadlines.
- Outgoing, professional personality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills plus the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Awareness of press campaigns of acts similar to Big Loud’s roster.
- A demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple tasks and priorities while delivering timely results.
- Proficiency in software platforms including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Flodesk, MuckRack, Critical Mention, and more.
