IDOL is a fully independent digital distributor founded in 2006 with offices in Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, Berlin and Johannesburg. Following a highly selective approach, IDOL offers a high level of marketing resources and personalized attention to its partners.

Constantly expanding, the company now counts +60 people and offers full worldwide digital distribution services to labels such as City Slang, Erased Tapes, Exceleration, Fire Records, B3SCI Records, Local Action, Moderna Records, Gondwana Records, Glitterbeat, Soundway, No Format!, HighNote Records, SRD (Four Tet, V Recordings, Daphni).

Additionally, IDOL offers a range of other services including audience management, rights management, international project management and physical distribution through a network of trusted partners.

As head of a team of 7 people, you will manage the delivery of IDOL’s digital catalogue to the streaming and download platforms. Your department is part of the global distribution team and its remit covers three areas:

  1. Supply chain management
  2. Quality control
  3. Rights management

Job Duties

Supply chain management:

In close collaboration with the development team and the Artist and Label management department:

  • Organising and managing the delivery and availability of the catalogue on the various digital platforms as per our artists and labels release schedules and in accordance with the technical specifications of the platforms.
  • Steering and managing catalogue transfers in close collaboration with the various stakeholders.
  • Acting as a delivery contact for the digital platforms: maintain excellent relations with them in order to master their technical specificities with a view to optimising the supply chain processes.
  • Participating in the integration of new platforms: you will help to understand the technical models/specifics of the new platforms and support their integration into the supply chain in close collaboration with the Integration team.
  • Acting as a point of reference for the development team in order to define the development requirements for our catalogue management and delivery tools.
  • Developing your team’s knowledge of supply chain issues (technical watch, best practices) and disseminating this knowledge to IDOL’s other operational departments.

Quality control:

  • Overseeing the process of checking the metadata supplied by our artists and distributed labels in order to meet the platforms’ quality criteria (Style Guides).
  • Helping to maintain IDOL’s ‘Preferred Partner’ status with Apple, Spotify and Youtube.
  • Overseeing the updating of best practice support for our teams and our partners in order to optimise the quality of deliveries of their catalogue.

Rights management:

  • Supervising the Rights Management team in their claims management and resolution on audio and video platforms. Definition of new processes, implementation of new functionalities
  • Supervising the regular sharing of best practice internally and with our partners

Profile
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role in the music industry. In-depth knowledge of platform back offices, Style Guides and various digital formats: XML, DDEX standards.
  • Management experience and strong organisational skills essential.
  • Strategic thinking, technical fluency and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Conscientious and meticulous, with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Fluent written and spoken English imperative. Fluency in French is a strong advantage
