Overview

Kobalt Music is hiring for a Senior Manager in Los Angeles to join the global Corporate Finance team as a senior member of the Investment team. Working alongside senior dealmakers, creative and the Legal and Business Affairs departments, this role will undertake the investment evaluation of all catalogue and company acquisitions as well as the signing of bands, artists and songwriters.

Working alongside senior management you will oversee all financial aspects of deals, complete the financial modelling and assist with post-closing onboarding and analysis.

The ideal candidate for this position is ambitious but also flexible and can adapt to growing and changing environments. You also have a keen interest in the music industry and a passion for making the industry more fair and rewarding for creators.


WHAT DOES A SENIOR INVESTMENT MANAGER AT KOBALT DO?
  • Perform financial valuation and cash flow analysis to evaluate the value of assets, and create investment memorandums outlining proposed deal structure and providing recommendations
  • Own the investment process in Los Angeles, liaising with senior management and creative leads to evaluate and support negotiations on deals
  • Assist in monitoring deal performance and forecasting
  • Assist senior team members with catalogue and company acquisitions including with financial due diligence
  • Conduct industry and deal specific research or support the team with various presentations
  • One direct report, with wider pool of analysts / associates to support

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • 4+ years’ experience in an investment environment; investment banking, PE or VC, consultancy, intellectual property, investment management, music organization or with a major corporation
  • High proficiency in Excel, including experience in preparing financial models
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data providing meaningful and useful analysis for decision making purposes
  • The ability to formulate opinions and discuss merits and weaknesses of potential investments is essential
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with ability to discuss financial analysis to stakeholders across multiple functions
  • Strong attention to detail, time management and comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Confident team player with strong influencing, facilitation and communication skills
  • Experience in the music industry, or other media, is preferred

The range provided is for Los Angeles-based hires only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations other than Los Angeles may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. Pay range: $116,000 – $145,000
