Role Mission
As the A&R Manager, your primary responsibility is to oversee and manage the A&R team, ensuring accountability, raising standards, and executing a competitive strategy in artist signings. You work closely with the Head of Music to align new music signings with company objectives and audience preferences.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the direction for NCS music output and music team, manage relationships with key artists, teams and publishers, assess opportunities and allocate resources as required.
- Identifying and nurturing emerging and established artists and genres, developing a strong artist roster while keeping a constant pulse on the NCS niche and broader market trends.
- Manage and create accountability for the A&R team, allowing them to execute a competitive strategy in artist signings in line with company objectives and audiences
- Assist in negotiating high-priority deals for new signings and existing roster deals with publishing companies, management companies and artists.
- Regularly assess music and artist performance performance, tracking updates and conversations through structured A&R meetings and systems.
- Lead opportunities to partner with artists, creators and publishers on collective songwriting, production sessions
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Minimum 3 year’s experience at a music company, ideally in an A&R position – record label, management company or music publisher with a proven track record in prospecting artists.
- A very strong understanding of the market NCS works within, our label competitors and the genres we release.
- A network of existing relationships with high-level artists, publishers, writers and producers that will be relevant to NCS’ business.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively negotiate deals and resolve disputes.
- An understanding of music rights, recording & publishing agreements, and copyright
- Experience managing individuals or teams.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders, including artists, songwriters, lawyers, and external partners.
- Ability to work organised and process driven, experience in using task management systems, CRM’s, analytics software.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
