Position Summary

The Director, Operations Management is responsible for overseeing and optimizing business processes and mapping for SoundExchange’s operational workflows, related data governance and providing project oversight of key operational and new business initiatives. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end coordination of key operational projects, collaborating with business owners as applicable in identifying and enumerating SoundExchange’s business requirements and objectives addressed by these initiatives, developing supporting documentation, operations strategic planning, compiling, and communicating requirements, and ensuring that the project objectives are being met through all stages of development.

You will work with stakeholders from other participating departments and/or organizations and SX leadership to ensure that progress is made in a timely and efficient fashion and provide reporting on performance metrics to stakeholders and management on project progress, milestones, risks, and opportunities as appropriate. This role will coordinate the operational roll out and implementation of new business initiatives across the organization and mapping out the operational aspects of new business opportunities.

This person will work closely with each of SoundExchange’s departments to identify areas of need related to business processes and operational projects, defining business requirements, and developing strategies and processes to achieve the Company’s goals. This position reports to the SVP, Operations and is a key role for an individual with a proven track record of operational excellence.


Essential Functions
  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies and effectiveness for SoundExchange
  • Identify and document business requirements for key operational projects
  • Support development and manage the end of end implementation of new business development initiatives
  • Analyze existing operational processes and identify areas for improvement
  • Act as Business Owner of SoundExchange’s Music Data Exchange portal
  • Manage BPM and workflows in support of SoundExchange operations
  • Provide visibility and reporting on project progress to company stakeholders and management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs):
  • Proven experience in a senior operations management role with a track record of success in process optimization and team leadership.
  • Proven experience working across organizations with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team building capabilities.
  • Strategic thinking and planning.
  • Proven experience working with Agile methodology.
  • Will have a keen understanding of business processes, rights management, and repertoire metadata.
  • Exceptional technical and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with proficiency in PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, strong work ethic and team player.
  • Able to solve problems and work through conflicts.

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience:
  • 7-10 years of professional experience, preferably with a background in operations management, BPM, data governance
  • 5 plus years music industry experience, including Publishing
  • Six Sigma and/or BPM certification a plus
  • BA or BS degree

  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) more than half the time
  • The person in this position may need to move about the corporate office(s) less than half the time
  • The person in this position must be able to maneuver (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) less than 15 lbs.
  • This position operates machinery and/or equipment that requires the constant use of hands/fingers/wrists (ex: typing) all of the time
  • This position requires the ability to spend all of the time viewing computer monitors

Travel Requirements
  • This position requires overnight domestic travel less than 25% of the time
  • This position requires overnight international travel less than 25% of the time
  • Anticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or train

Pay Range: $134,000 – $170,000
