The Music Mission team owns Spotify’s end to end proposition for music creators and the experiences they build for fans. The team is dedicated to building tools and services to enable creation, promotion, expression, and monetization at scale.
The Music Promotion and Spotify for Artists (S4A) team is focused on enabling artists and teams to access streaming and listener data and extract meaningful insights. They also build campaign tools to help artists promote their music, grow their audience, and their careers. Our products are used at scale—over 1M active artists in S4A and more than 380M listeners. We’re looking for an experienced Product Design Manager to help craft, and guide vision and execution for the Discovery Mode product line and the new S4A Growth Product Area within S4A.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a small team of designers, supporting them as they drive their personal and professional growth.
- Partner with Product, Tech, and Insights leads to collectively set the mission for a growing organization. You will help encourage this group to be healthy, and impactful.
- Lead projects across the entire product lifecycle — from concept to MVP to rollout and beyond. You set the vision for the experience and build space for others to collaborate.
- Bring user-centric thinking to technically sophisticated problems. We craft user outcomes that are powered by machine learning models. It’s important to not to lose sight of the needs of the listener and the creator.
- Challenge the status quo on creativity and quality of design work across the team.
- Promote your team’s work to drive alignment across the other teams.
- Proactively look for and tackle high-level issues and opportunities.
Who You Are
- You have experience leading Product and Content Designers in a fast-paced product development environment.
- You possess a proven record of working on audio and visual experiences for creator communities.
- You are a leader with practical design chops that you don’t mind dusting off from time to time. You’ve shipped many consumer products over the years, and understand what it takes to build meaningful customer-first product experiences.
- You have a keen eye for detail and can give effective direction and direct feedback to designers on the team — we appreciate radical candor!
- You’re an excellent communicator, both written and verbal. You have the communication skills to help set up frameworks and brainstorm initial design concepts. You also have the ability to mentor others to deliver work, and make strategy come to life.
- You solve opportunities that are ambiguous and vague and can lead with a perspective. You do this by understanding the people involved in the project, what the project needs, and using everyone’s strengths to achieve the project’s goals.
