Spotify – R&B Lead Artist Partnerships (US)

As part of the Artist Partnerships team within the Music Team at Spotify, you will develop strategic relationships with R&B artists, managers, and key industry collaborators, leading Spotify’s partnerships strategy for the genre with a globally relevant lens!

This work will involve close collaboration with many of Spotify’s key cross-functional teams including Label Partnerships, Editorial, Music Marketing, Creative Development, Experiential Marketing, and more. The R&B Lead, Artist Partnerships will deepen Spotify’s relationship with the R&B artist community by creating and executing thoughtful, holistic opportunities for artists, to the mutual benefit of Spotify and its partners. You will also focus on driving an innovative strategy to develop and grow Spotify’s R&B audience, ensuring that Spotify continues to deliver the best offerings to artists and rights-holders while crafting the most exciting platform for audiences everywhere.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead all aspects of Spotify’s partnerships with R&B artists, their management teams, and key US industry partners to develop and execute innovative opportunities that support artists’ careers as well as Spotify’s business goals.
  • Educate R&B artist s and their management teams on Spotify for Artists and Spotify’s platform and offerings to grow their careers.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Editorial and Music Marketing teams to develop R&B artist & audience strategies for the Music team and road-manage the execution of those plans, engaging teams across Partnerships, Editorial, Music Marketing, Social, PR, Creative, Experiential & more.
  • Identify priority R&B artists and develop strategies to support them holistically, on and off platform as well as on and off cycle.
  • Work closely with North America Label Partnerships to communicate Spotify support and opportunities to R&B artists and their teams and act as a strategic partner on priority R&B artist releases, consulting on and supporting key frontline release campaigns.
  • Advise internal cross-functional working groups on campaigns or initiatives that involve R&B artists/managers or that speak to the R&B audience.
  • Develop a strategic approach for growing the R&B audience on Spotify, utilizing industry insight and knowledge of cultural trends to inform consumer-facing campaigns.
  • Work cross-functionally with Music Leads to ensure alignment and fulfill company goals.
  • Attend relevant industry events, conferences, and shows. Travel will be required.
Who You Are
  • You have extensive experience in an artist & partner-facing role, with a proven ability to build strategic partnerships and effectively manage relationships with senior executives.
  • You have a minimum of 8 years of career experience in the music/entertainment industry, with an excellent reputation amongst your network and a clear understanding of marketplace trends.
  • An optimistic self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude and knack for problem-solving.
  • You’re highly collaborative and comfortable working with cross-functional teams across a large distributed global music and technology organization.
  • Experience building either global marketing campaigns or managing complex projects, with a demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A deep understanding of modern music styles and wider cultural influences, and continually strive to stay abreast of current trends. You are a true fan – you understand how fandom communicates and what drives and excites them.
  • An open, transparent, and clear communicator, with a knack for expressing ideas and insights to a range of stakeholders, and for turning around crisp presentations of your work.
  • Comfortable analyzing music and audience insights and understanding how to apply them.
  • Thrive in fast-paced, agile work environments and are able to easily adapt and learn new skill sets as circumstances require.
  • Willingness to travel and participate in night and weekend events, where senior leadership presence is needed.
Where You’ll Be
  • This position is based in New York or LA and reports to the Head of Hip Hop & R&B Artist Partnerships.
