Stones Throw Records is seeking a Creative Visual Manager. The position is full time, based in our L.A. office. This position will work closely with label’s project managers and social media manager to produce visual content and assets for our artist campaigns.
It is essential that the Creative Visual Manager has a strong grasp of Stones Throw’s creative output and voice, paying careful consideration to how all content contributes to the presentation of our artists.

Stones Throw Records is an independent record label founded in 1996 by DJ Peanut Butter Wolf with offices in Los Angeles and London. Known for a richly diverse roster, past touchstone releases include albums by Madvillain, J Dilla, Madlib, Mayer Hawthorne, Dam-Funk, and Aloe Blacc.
The current roster includes artists such as Sudan Archives, Mild High Club, Knxwledge, Mndsgn, Benny Sings, NxWorries (Anderson. Paak & Knxwledge), Automatic, Jerry Paper, John Carroll Kirby, Kiefer and Los Retros.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with our artists and marketing staff to conceive interesting, creative visual content ideas that cut through the noise.
- Work closely with internal staff and external creatives to create and deliver visual assets for record campaigns.
- Create content in-house and commission content externally from a range of creatives.
- Visual assets for online use include but are not limited to artist front-facing videos, lifestyle content, filmed sessions, music video cutdowns, promotional clips, live photography and videography, and more.
- Ensure assets are delivered in a timely manner and to a high standard, compliant with technical specifications.
- Grow Stones Throw’s database of photographers, directors, illustrators, editors, and other visual creatives, and maintain relationships.
- Oversee photo and video shoots to ensure high quality assets are delivered.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in social media, content creation, and similar.
- Applicants who have worked in the music industry are preferred, but applicants from other backgrounds will be considered if they can demonstrate how their experience will transfer to this role.
- Genuine passion for and knowledge of Stones Throw’s history, music, and social media voice.
- Skills in content creation, editing, videography and photography, as demonstrated in an excellent and diverse portfolio.
- Deep proficiency in photo and video editing applications.
- Up-to-date understanding of a range of digital platforms, evolving trends and technologies.
- Data-driven approach with a keen understanding of what content works for different audiences.
- Must independently & effectively manage multiple, concurrent projects and deadlines without compromising quality.
- Demonstrable strong communication skills and organizational skills.
- Ability to take creative direction, share new ideas and pay close attention to details.
- Extensive contacts and excellent relationships with videographers, photographers, editors, directors, and other creatives.
- Resourceful at working within independent label budgets.
- Positive and collaborative attitude.
Compensation
$50-65k salary (dependent on experience) plus health benefits, 401K matching, PTO, paid holidays (including December 24 to January 1), and other benefits.
