The company formerly known as Kobalt Neighbouring Rights has changed its name to Kollective Neighbouring Rights (KNR).
It is also launching a new platform powered by Sony Music-owned distribution and artist and label services company The Orchard.
The name change follows Sony Music Entertainment‘s (SME) acquisition of KNR, along with AWAL, from Kobalt Music Group in May 2021.
According to Sony Music Entertainment, “KNR and AWAL are part of a suite of artist and label services offerings from SME enhanced by the technology and network of The Orchard”.
Kollective Neighboring Rights says that it “will continue to provide clients with the same high level of service and transparency in the collection of worldwide performance rights for which they are known”.
Leveraging The Orchard’s “technology, global reach, and infrastructure”, KNR says that its roster of clients will receive a “full range of global administration and performance royalty maximization services”, including a new website, “advanced technology and customer accounting”, and a revamped client portal.
The new features are set to begin rolling out on October 4 and will continue into 2023.
KNR represents talent including Miley Cyrus, A$AP Rocky, SIA, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Popcaan, Charli XCX, and Bring Me The Horizon
In recent months, Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum artist Tyga, Grammy-nominated artists Meduza and Kelis, New Zealand singer-songwriter Benee, British rapper Tion Wayne, Australian artist Sam Fischer, Billboard Hot 100 breakout rapper Iann Dior, TikTok star Ashnikko, hip hop artist Metro Boomin, London-based producer and DJ 220 Kid, and more have been added to the list of performers using KNR services.
Existing deals with Tom Grennan, Disciples, Tame Impala, Lewis Capaldi, and Tove Lo have also been extended.
