Veteran British music executive Robin Godfrey-Cass has joined Primary Wave Music to focus on catalog acquisitions of “iconic and legendary songwriters” for the publishing giant.
Godfrey-Cass’s experience in the music industry has spanned over 40 years.
He was appointed Warner/Chappell Music UK’s Managing Director, making history as the youngest ever appointed MD for a major publisher.
During his time at WC, Robin was responsible for the worldwide signings of Eric Clapton, Michael Bolton, Howard Jones, Whitesnake, Bush and Radiohead, among many others.
Promoted in 1990 to Senior Vice President (Europe), and in addition to his MD duties, he coordinated European Acquisitions for Warner/Chappell.
In 2004, Godfrey-Cass formed Crosstown Songs, based in the UK and the US. He ran Crosstown for five years prior to the company’s sale. He was instrumental in acquiring the catalogs of Deston, Murlyn, John Reid, Palan, Neil Thrasher and many others.
He then launched Crosstown Nashville with Dann Huff.
In 2010, he co-founded the company Perfect Storm, and delivered success with Stronger performed by Kelly Clarkson and global No.1 hits by DJ Snake feat. Justin Bieber, and Kygo featuring Selena Gomez. He signed Ali Tamposi, the songwriter behind these songs.
Godfrey-Cass and his financiers sold Perfect Storm to Reservoir Publishing. In 2017 Robin then facilitated the signing of Mitch Rowland, guitarist, songwriter, and band member of Harry Styles, to UMPG.
In 2018, back in the UK after 18 years in the US, he was asked to head up the Round Hill Carlin’s UK operation, as Managing Director and was on the Senior Management Team of Round Hill Music US.
