Norbert Plantinga, who ran Universal Music‘s Dutch office for a decade before leaving this year, is joining rival Sony.
MBW understands that the respected executive has taken a role as Benelux Marketing Director at Sony Music, where he worked during the early years of his career.
He will begin the new role in January 2018.
During the first years of his career Plantinga worked in different roles at both Sony Music’s Dutch office as well as Sony Music’s head office in New York.
At UMG he worked both in the company’s international head office in London as well as in the role of MD at Universal Music in The Netherlands.
Plantinga will become part of Sony Music Benelux’s management team, reporting to Managing Director Toon Martens.
In the wake of Plantinga’s exit from Universal, the company’s HQ in the Netherlands promoted Thijs Mantel to Marketing Director.
Sources tell MBW that Mantel will take on many of Plantinga’s previous responsibilities.Music Business Worldwide
