For years he was signed to Syco/Sony as a member of One Direction, but now Liam Payne has signed a major solo record contract with Universal‘s Capitol Records UK.
The artist will soon enter the studio to record his first solo album.
He is the first One Directioner not to re-sign with a Sony label, after Zayn Malik inked a solo deal with RCA and Harry Styles was snapped up by Columbia.
Payne, who has sold over 20 million albums as part of One Direction, has hired a new management team, more details of which will be announced in due course.
Nick Raphael, President, Capitol Records UK said today: “Capitol Records UK are incredibly excited to be working with Liam.
“It’s not often you get the chance to sign such a talented and ambitious 22-year-old who has already conquered the world.”
