Warner Music France exec Yann Miossec has joined Paris-based streaming service Qobuz as CEO.
The exec leaves behind 12 years at Warner Music France where he was Executive Vice President.
News arrives soon after the company, which specializes in high definition streaming and downloads, told MBW it would consider its very own IPO over the next two years.
Before that, Miossec will be tasked with launching the service in the US market, which is scheduled for summer of this year.
Qobuz has recently instructed KPMG to handle its third round of fundraising, with a plan to close investment by the end of June.
“Yann is a digital music visionary and a well-regarded industry statesman,” commented Qobuz President, Denis Thebaud.
“With his keen business sense and music-industry experience, Yann Miossec is the best individual to successfully lead us through [our upcoming] crucial endeavors.”

“Qobuz is entering a very exciting phase. In addition to our planned US launch, the recent listing of Spotify on the New York Stock Exchange shows that the market is becoming more mature.
“The market is becoming segmented, which widens the opportunity for specialized players with a strong music presence and personality – like Qobuz.
“After our third round of fundraising ends in June, we too will likely begin considering our own IPO.
“With his keen business sense and music-industry experience, Yann Miossec is the best individual to successfully lead us through these crucial endeavors.”
“Working with this brand, promoting its projects, is my dream challenge.”
