SONGS Music Publishing has appointed David Gold to the newly-created position of Business & Legal Affairs in its New York HQ.

In his new role, Mr. Gold will handle all transactional legal matters including the drafting and negotiation of deals with writers and artists, notices, licenses and sub-publishing agreements for SONGS and the company’s newly launched record label, RECORDS.

He will work closely with Michael Selverne, who remains in his longstanding capacity as the company’s corporate counsel.

Mr. Gold previously served as Of Counsel for Serling Rooks Hunter McKoy & Worob where he worked with artists such as Zac Brown and John Mayer.

Prior to that, he was Partner at Selverne, Mandelbaum and Mintz, where he worked on the first deals that SONGS made after its formation in 2004.

“David’s roots at SONGS go back to the early days of our company,” said SONGS Founder and CEO Matt Pincus.

“Since that time I have often said that one day we will be fortunate enough to have a David Gold here at SONGS. I am very pleased that the day has come to pass, as David is one of the finest transactional lawyers in our industry.”

“My history and familiarity with SONGS and Matt goes back many years,” said Mr. Gold. “When we first met, SONGS was just beginning but we all knew Matt had something special. I am very excited to have the opportunity to again join forces with Matt and the SONGS team.”

Gold will report directly to Pincus.Music Business Worldwide
