Sony Music Publishing has signed Brazilian pop star Anitta to a worldwide publishing agreement.
Anitta’s US breakthrough single, Girl From Rio, reached the Top 40 on US radio and the Top 30 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart, and currently has over 100 million total streams and over 35 million YouTube views.
She also earned chart success with recent collaborations like Faking Love ft. Saweetie, Me Gusta ft. Cardi B and Myke Towers, Tócame ft. Arcangel and De La Ghetto, and Fuego with DJ Snake and Sean Paul.
Anitta’s wider body of work includes four Latin studio albums, and she has also secured six Latin Grammy Award nominations and nine MTV EMA wins.
In September 2021, she became the first Brazilian artist to perform at the MTV VMAs, and is currently Brazil’s most streamed artist, says Sony.
Anitta is finalizing her fifth studio album, Girl From Rio, and her latest singles, Envolver and NO CHÃO NOVINHA ft. DJ Pedro Sampaio, were released at the end of 2021.
Sony says that Anitta will work closely with SMP’s US and US Latin Creative teams, including US SVP Creatives Amanda Hill and Katie Welle, and Monica Jordan, Director, Creative, US Latin.
Latin American stars were some of the most streamed artists of 2021.
On Spotify, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny was the platform’s most-streamed artist of the year globally.
Meanwhile, Colombian Reggaeton star Karol G topped Vevo’s most-viewed artist chart of 2021 globally, with 3.11 billion views.
