UK-based Sony label Music For Nations has made two significant signings as its ramps up its frontline activities in the market.
Sony revived iconic rock and metal label MFN last year, hiring Visible Noise founder Julie Weir to run the imprint.
Weir, who previously signed and developed Bring Me The Horizon, oversees A&R activity at the company alongside Joel De’ath.
The first new signing at MFN is Blanket, an emerging band comprising of Bobby Pook (guitar and vocals), Simon Morgan (guitar and backing vocals), Matthew Sheldon (bass) and Steven Pellatt (drums).
Originating from Blackpool and forming in 2016, the cinematic rock quartet are well known for producing arresting audio-visual experiences at their live shows.
Bobby Pook of Blanket said: “To sign to a label as important and influential as Music For Nations seemed like an unobtainable dream for us. This is something that we’ve all wanted since we started playing music.
“The team at the label share our vision and aspirations of what we want this band to be. We’re putting our all into this record and we are excited to show it to the world.”
Additionally, Music For Nations have penned a deal with Southampton five-piece, Bury Tomorrow (pictured).

The band, which is made up of Daniel Winter-Bates, Jason Cameron, Davyd Winter-Bates, Adam Jackson and Kristan Dawson, are making a big splash in the UK metal scene.

“After 10 years as a band, we’ve found a team that are on our page. The enthusiasm, knowledge and direction they’ve shown, made it a no brainer to move forward with this partnership. BT 5 is coming.”
