Independent music company [PIAS] is kicking off its 40th-anniversary celebrations with a special 40th-anniversary reissues series.
The first release from the series will be the 2manydjs release As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt.2, which will be made available on streaming platforms for the first time.
As Heard on Radio Soulwax Pt. 2 was released in 2002 and features 45 remixed tracks of music by artists including Kylie Minogue, Dolly Parton and many more.
Having since sold over half a million copies globally, [PIAS] will now reissue a deluxe version of As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt.2.
The album will also feature Richard Young’s original photography on the cover, which [PIAS] says is “now liberated from a long-running legal dispute”.
Kenny Gates and Michel Lambot launched [PIAS], then known as Play It Again Sam, from a Brussels basement in 1982.
Originally an importer of vinyl records from UK independent labels the company grew into a prominent European marketing and distribution outlet for the independent music sector, with its own recordings division.
Now with 16 offices worldwide, [PIAS] has over 280 employees, a frontline records division [PIAS] Label Group and distribution services [Integral].
The launch of the 40th-anniversary celebrations at [PIAS] follows the news of its two founders receiving the ‘Indie Champion’ award at last week’s AIM Awards 2022 at The Roundhouse in London.
As part of the 40th anniversary celebrations, [PIAS] says that it is planning an “extensive program” of releases, an interactive dedicated anniversary website, special live events and more.
“Music remains our passion and we have always made it our core mission to serve the independent community, so to be recognised in this way by our friends and peers is a real honour.”
