SoundCloud has hired Facebook Ireland MD Sonia Flynn as VP of International.
Flynn, also a former Google executive, will join the free streaming service at its HQ in Berlin in the coming months.
As well as driving growth in new territories for Germany-born SoundCloud, Flynn will also be tasked with expanding the firm’s On SoundCloud partner programme internationally.
On SoundCloud was introduced in August last year as a way for labels and artists to monetise their music through advertising.
In the programme’s first six months, SoundCloud paid out around $166k a month – totalling over $1 million (€890k) in advertising revenue to partners including labels, audio partners and emerging artists.
On SoundCloud’s payout figure is now believed to have surpassed $2m.
Earlier this month, SoundCloud signed a landmark licensing deal with the National Music Publishers Association in the US.
Meanwhile, SoundCloud has announced that it will be launching in its first non-English language version.
The company is rolling out localisation efforts in Brazil, translating its platform into Brazilian Portuguese.
This includes the translation of its apps (web, mobile) into Portuguese along with content and design.
SoundCloud boasts a monthly user based in excess of 175 million people.Music Business Worldwide
