Steven Victor has been named EVP and Head of A&R at Def Jam Recordings, effective immediately.
He will report to incoming Def Jam CEO Paul Rosenberg and work with a roster that includes the likes of Kanye West, Justin Bieber, 2 Chainz, Logic and Alessia Cara.
Victor moves over from his position of SVP of A&R at Universal Music Group – a role he took up in November last year.
In his early career, Victor worked with the likes of Clipse, Jadakiss and Nelly Furtado at Interscope Geffen A&M, before he became Chief Operating Officer at Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music.
G.O.O.D Music entered into a distribution agreement with Def Jam in 2015.
“I’m genuinely excited to continue Russell and Rick’s legacy of discovering and developing new artists while creating new opportunities for our incredible talent.”

Victor is also an artist manager for the likes of Pusha T and Dream at his own company, William Victor Management.
During his career at UMG, Victor signed Def Jam artist Desiigner, who enjoyed a No. 1 hit with single Panda.
Victor said: “I’ve worked within the Def Jam family for years and am honored to be part of the new leadership driving the future success of this iconic label.
“I’m genuinely excited to continue Russell and Rick’s legacy of discovering and developing new artists while creating new opportunities for our incredible talent.
“I’d like to thank Sir Lucian and Paul for trusting me with this task and look forward to working with the A&R and management teams at Def Jam.”Music Business Worldwide
