Stones Throw Publishing, the publishing division of independent label Stones Throw Records, has signed with Songtrust for its global publishing administration.
Songtrust powers global rights administration for over 350,000 writers and 3 million works, representing songwriters from over 145 countries.
The Stones Throw Publishing roster includes Grammy Award-winning artist and producer Glenn Earl Boothe Jr., aka Knxwledge (pictured), who has worked with artists including Anderson.Paak (as the duo NxWorries), Earl Sweatshirt, Kendrick Lamar, and Action Bronson.
The agreement includes the NxWorries tracks Suede and Lyk Dis, as well as Kendrick Lamar’s Momma.
Artist and producer Kiefer, another Grammy winner, is also on the roster alongside Ringgo Acheta, aka Mndsgn, whose co-writing credits include artists such as CHAI and Tyler, the Creator, and include Tyler’s Peach Fuzz.
Mexican-American artist Los Retros is also on the roster alongside Sasha Winn, aka Silk Rhodes, whose single Pains was featured on several episodes of the HBO TV series High Fidelity.
Stones Throw Publishing joins Sub Pop Publishing, Merge Publishing, and ZJS Music Publishing (Average Joes Entertainment) among the publishing companies associated with independent record labels and label groups using Songtrust for its publishing administration.
In 2020, Songtrust writers had co-writes with over half of the artists on Billboard’s Year-End Hot 100 chart, were involved in 40 RIAA-certified gold and platinum songs, and were nominated for 14 Grammys in this year’s ceremony.
