Dirty Hit

Record Label

Dirty Hit is a UK-based independent record label.

Home to artists including The 1975, Wolf Alice, No Rome, and Beabadoobee, Dirty Hit was founded in London by Jamie Oborne in December 2009.

Oborne’s co-founders in Dirty Hit were Brian Smith and the late Ugo Ehiogu.

In August 2020, Dirty Hit expanded with new operations in Los Angeles and Sydney.

Dirty Hit: Distribution setup

Dirty Hit operates independently with the support of Ingrooves Music Group as a digital distribution partner, under a global deal.

In addition to its deal with Universal Music Group-owned Ingrooves, Dirty Hit has an existing licensing agreement with Universal labels – Interscope in the US and Polydor in the UK – for records made by The 1975.

When Dirty Hit re-upped its deal with Ingrooves in December 2019, Jamie Oborne said: “Bob Roback and his team at Ingrooves have built one of the most sophisticated distribution operations in the world and I’m excited about this new era for our two companies.

“Similarly, our ties with Universal Music Group run deep, particularly with David Joseph [Chairman and CEO UMG UK/Ireland] and John Janick [Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M] who were early supporters of our label and artists.”Music Business Worldwide
