Taylor Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, broke multiple Spotify records in less than 24 Hours.
Less than 12 hours after release on Friday (April 19, 2024), it became the most-streamed album in a single day in 2024 so far.
The album then became the first album in Spotify history to cross the 200 million and 300 million stream mark in a single day.
Taylor Swift now holds the Top three most streamed albums in a single day in Spotify history, including The Tortured Poets Department; Midnights and, 1989 (Taylor’s Version).
Additionally, the new album broke another record on April 19, as Fortnight (feat. Post Malone) became the most-streamed song in a single day in Spotify history.
Elsewhere, on Thursday (April 18), The Tortured Poets Department became the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in Spotify history.
Spotify says that, on average, nearly 70% of users who pre-save an album listen to it in week one.
Last Monday (April 15), Taylor Swift revealed details from the new album exclusively with Spotify.
The Tortured Poets Department is the artist’s eleventh studio album and features Florence & The Machine and Post Malone.
Two hours after the release of TTPD, Taylor Swift also announced The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, which includes 15 additional songs. The surprise double album was made available to stream across all DSPs.
Last year, on August 29, 2023, Taylor Swift became the first female artist in Spotify history to reach 100 million monthly listeners.
