Taylor Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, has broken more Spotify records – and one of them is a big one.
On April 22, 2024, it became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single week.
And as of today (Wednesday April 24), the album has officially surpassed 1 Billion streams since it was released on Friday (April 19).
This achievement means that Swift’s album has become the first in Spotify’s history to reach 1 Billion streams in a single week.
Furthermore, this was achieved before the full streaming week was completed as it’s only been five days since the album’s release.
The news was confirmed today on Spotify’s social media.
Today’s achievement follows a long line of recent records on the platform broken by Swift.
On April 19, 2024, for example, The Tortured Poets Department became the first album in Spotify history to reach over 300 million streams in a single day.

She also broke her previous record achieved with the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on October 27, 2023.
On April 18, 2024, The Tortured Poets Department became the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in Spotify history.
On August 29, 2023, Taylor Swift became the first female artist in Spotify history to reach 100 million monthly listeners.
